For those of you who weren't able to join us this year for our annual spring tasting and for those who were there and would like to compare notes, we thought we'd put together a few of the highlights of the thirty six wines we presented. Kiki Sauvignon Blanc   £9.99
Fine foamy bubbles and sweet fruit on the palate and a long, clean finish with a subtle hint of light spice.

2010 Stanley Estates Sauvignon Blanc   £9.99
Very rich tropical fruit and gooseberries balanced by a lush herbaceousness.

2010 L'Ancienne Macon Charnay £6.99
This is the D. Byrne & Co. White Wine of the Year
Lovely peachy aromas lead to a full and ripe citrussy white. long and lingering, great value for money.

2010 Bottega Vinai Gewurztraminer £7.99
Elegant and well structured almost creamy, it has persistent aromatic notes and flavours of rose and ripe exotic fruit.

2009 St. Amour Domaine de la Port du Paradis  £8.59
Top wine in recent Sommelier awards. Heavenly scents of peonies and irises. Smooth, rich and satisfying - a polished gem!

2008 Barbera D'Asti Ceppi Storici  £6.89
From 40 year old vines. A vibrant damson concentrated wine, balanced by sweet pepper and spice.

2009 Alaia Tinto Castilla y Leon  £6.99
A firm D. Byrne & Co. favourite which we have been unable to get hold of for a couple of years - but we have now managed to source this wonderful wine again.

2007 Chateau Mayne Viel  £8.99
A gentle style of Claret with a leafy redcurrant character, great with food.

2008 Rustenberg John X Merriman  £10.29
Blackcurrant and black cherry, the flavours are rich, ripe and complex.

2009 La Chapelle de Marin Cotes du Rhone  £5.99
This is the D. Byrne & Co. Red Wine of the Year
Rich ripe fruit with a hint of spice, packed full of flavour. An absolute bargain at the price.

2007 Lesec Gigondas  £10.99
From 50 year old vines. Dense in colour, with ripe blueberries and a full rich palate, a very pure wine.

2008 Matilda Plains Shiraz / Cabernet  £7.99
Layers of ripe black fruit, very soft and easy drinking.

2007 Mountadam Patriarch Shiraz  £12.99
A meaty core of ripe berry fruit and a peppery, spicy finish. A great match for savoury and gamey dishes.
